My name is Jackie O’Rourke. I am a mother of two boys and have been married for 20 years. I am starting my seventh year at Armstrong Elementary and Mill Pond as a visual arts teacher. I completed my Bachelor’s degree and Master's degree at Framingham State University. I love working as an art teacher. Every day I am amazed by the imaginative and creative art work that my students create. It is a joy to share the kids beautiful art work and unique discoveries with the school and community.
I believe every student has an artist hidden within them. As a visual arts teacher it is my responsibility to share my knowledge and abilities to enable students to unlock their potential. Art is a part of our life everyday and students should be made aware of the value and importance of art through out the world. It is imperative to remain open-minded and accept the ever changing and advancing world of the visual arts. My responsibility is to create a classroom where every student is enthusiastic and eager to succeed. My goal is to focus on the students’ individuality and uniqueness. Each student is different and each child is unique. Most importantly, I want the students to become confident in their abilities, ideas, and thoughts as an expressive artist. I want to create a classroom where creativity is encouraged and students are confident in their abilities.

Encaustic painting naturally produces vibrant colors and striking textures. I feel as though I have found the perfect medium to blend texture and color to produce the paintings I have been
